Jade A. Jetzin

At the age of 10 years old Jade A. Jetzin decided he wanted to make animated movies for children and families. Wishing to follow in the footsteps of his heroes the likes of which include Don Bluth, John Lassiter and Walt Disney, he would spend the majority of his time coming up with his own stories and characters.  Having the freedom of a home education he would learn numerous self-taught skills in illustrating and writing primarily from observing the Film Masters whom he admired.

“I just watched a lot of behind-the-scenes special features….I think it was a behind the scenes documentary on Bambi that first inspired me. I had no idea how these movies were made as a child; I must have been about four at the time.  When Walt Disney himself showed up on screen and began talking about the process of making a movie I was hooked.”  ~ Jade A. As Jade grew up the challenges of making an animated film became more apparent – but not in a way that ever made him consider giving up.  He just reconsidered the medium.

“I was about 19 When I first considered the medium of the comic book for my stories. I really didn’t like comic books growing up – I considered them trash primarily because of the strangle grip that gory superhero comics had on the medium. But when I first read The French graphic novel Asterix and obelisk I saw the medium’s potential. After that I’d return to Tintin as well as come to regard Calvin and Hobbes in a new light.  From then until now rather than coming up with stories and characters for some future movie project (when I had a studio and an army of animators at my disposal) I switched focus to riding my own graphic novels.” ~ Jade A. From the mountains of Western Colorado on his family farm Jade A. Jetzin writes and illustrates his own graphic novels, dedicated to the utmost quality in visual storytelling for children and families the world over.
